Physiotherapy is a science-based health care profession concerned with human function and movement. Our number one aim is to help people with pain, dysfunction or injury. We assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions using exercise therapy, joint mobilistaions, soft tissue work and electrotherapy. We aim to prevent these injuries from reoccurring through advice and patient education. The patient is always an active participant in their treatment.
You need to look for a Chartered Physiotherapist. You can do this on the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) website. Chartered ensures your physiotherapist has completed a University degree and has done the correct amount of undergraduate training.
If you have any information about your presenting complaint bring it to your initial physiotherapy session. If you have any investigations such as x-rays, MRI or scans, a list of any current medication, Doctor or Consultant letters, bring them to your physiotherapy assessment. If it is your lower limb bring a pair of shorts or if it is a running injury bring in your runners.
