We are delighted to be offering Shockwave Therapy here in the clinic. This is suitable for those nasty tendons that don’t seem to go away on their own or with exercise. This works on pain that you have had a long time.
Shockwave Therapy treatment uses an acoustic wave which is pulsated at a high energy frequency directly to your affected area. You may feel slight discomfort during treatment but the intensity can be adjusted throughout the session.
Typically, 3-6 sessions is recommended. Minimal side effects can sometimes occur, redness on skin, possible bruising and some discomfort. It is recommended that you don’t engage in physical activity for 48 hours after treatment. This is due to the anesthetic effect of the therapy.
It is proven to be a popular choice amongst patients, reducing your pain and restoring your mobility. It enhances your blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue and stimulate your body’s natural healing process. This plays an important role in improving your physical fitness and reduces the chances of future injuries.
As an alternative to invasive surgeries or the use of strong painkillers, Shockwave Therapy naturally promotes the regeneration of ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues of the affected area. This aims to reduce pain and swelling, increase muscle tone and blood flow, whilst promoting cell generation and mobility.
Shockwave Therapy is used to treat common injuries including:
- Tennis elbow
- Golfers elbow
- Shoulder tendonitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendonitis
- Hamstring tendonitis
- Jumpers knee
- Chronic pain
- Muscle Trigger Point knots
