Shockwave Therapy

Have you been suffering with pain for a long time? This can often be referred to as chronic pain. Shockwave is suitable for those old niggling injuries that just aren’t going away on their own. It works well on bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles. If you have failed with treatment in the past Shockwave can help you.

We have been using Shockwave in the Clinic since 2021 with excellent results with our patients. Our Team are trained in Shockwave Therapy for over 45 muscle and bone injuries! We have found it to be the most effective treatment with  Plantarfasciitis, shoulder pain and tendon problems. We have found that it allows our patients to participate in their specific exercise program. This is where the magic happens, patients get stronger and the pain starts to disappear. You can then get back to doing the activities that you love, for example: walking, lifting weights or cycling.

We use Shockwave alongside education, advice, progressive exercise programs. The exercises we prescribe are quite specific to your problem, for example the amount you do and how often is important.

Shockwave is not suitable for new injuries, inflammation or swelling or nerve pain.

Typically, 3-6 sessions is recommended. Usually improvement starts after 1-3 sessions. Minimal side effects can sometimes occur, redness on skin, possible bruising and some discomfort. It is recommended that you don’t engage in strenuous physical activity for 48 hours after treatment. This is due to the anesthetic effect of the therapy.
